AIMS OF ACORN ART GALLERIES LTD

ACORN ART GALLERIES A vessel of hope and deliverance for disadvantaged and marginalised young people, the elderly and disabled adults.

Acorn Art Galleries Ltd is committed to and focused upon the needs of inspiring, supporting and enhancing the quality of life towards its primary and secondary beneficiaries. Acorn Art Galleries Ltd is a charity that wholly encompasses art and training and development for its beneficiaries who fall into two categories: (1) Children & Young People, and, (2) Elderly People and Disabled Adults.

Acorn Art Galleries Ltd aims to aid its primary beneficiaries who are children that are terminally ill, disabled and resident in institutional homes. Acorn Art Galleries Ltd will attempt to strive for encouraging positive outlooks and opportunities of the community, through those young people that have an aptitude and are strongly interested in art, by giving them the chance to take part in activities and recognising their talent. This will be via exhibitions, which in turn will give them aspirations to continue to learn more about art and its many disciplines leading to a profession. Self development is a key factor of Acorn Art Galleries Ltd where written and oral skills are fundamentally encouraged.

Acorn Art Galleries Ltd aims to aid its secondary beneficiaries who are elderly people and disabled adults who have had a career in art or have an aptitude towards art. This includes adults with minor psychological symptoms and unemployed, and who have an inclination towards art, and who through work experience will develop social, life, managerial and entrepreneurial skills. This interaction will benefit the gallery through the training and development given that will enable supportive work achieved by the beneficiaries. Where deeds of achievement, development and realisation are wholly encouraged through the medium of art projects and work experience, enabling them to participate positively in mainstream society. Participants will receive a certificate of achievement and a job reference.

Acorn Art Galleries' secondary beneficiaries are also adults that are new or accomplished artists and disabled (sight, hearing and physically impaired) or have minor psychological symptoms, and have the opportunity to utilise the gallery to exhibit their artwork and reach potential clients. The charity will strive to support its older beneficiaries as they make new transitions in adulthood.

London is a rich city of cultures. Therefore, the charity aims to harness talent from young people of Commonwealth heritage whose desire is to make a career out of art and its many creative and professional disciplines, and help those that have experienced and feel alienated from art, e.g., through elitism. It is accepted that the experience gained from participation with Acorn Art Galleries Ltd will also improve their self confidence. This can be achieve primarily in setting goals and not looking at obstacles as a negative element, but to research and indulge in the realms of possibilities around a setback.

Acorn Art Galleries Ltd is professionally managed and will instigate awards for excellence, i.e., ‘Acorn Work of Excellence’ (periodic) certificates for the best artwork exhibited in each collection, and ‘Acorn Art Award’ annual certificate and prize for the best art pieces chosen from all the exhibition collections, through a selection process by the management team and an invited panel of judges from industry, private and public sector contacts. Thus encouraging and maintaining relationships with the industry in order to further the professional deliverance of the beneficiaries.

Through the medium of Acorn Art Galleries Ltd exhibitions and certificates, individuals can utilise this as part of their portfolio when approaching colleges, universities and companies. Likewise, if companies are interested in particular artists then Acorn Art Galleries can act as an intermediary for both parties.

Where possible Acorn Art Galleries Ltd will also act as an intermediary for talented adults, through the contacts made with industry and commercial companies, as well as other charitable and philanthropic organisations that promote art from vulnerable and disabled adult artists.

It is also Acorn's aim to bring on board corporate mentors and role models, from various cultures, backgrounds and nationalities, for its young people.

Acorn Art Galleries Ltd periodically reviews its place in the community and will make new strategic planning where appropriate to benefit its gallery exhibitors and art members.
