SECONDARY BENEFICIARIES & ACTIVITIES
ACORN ART GALLERIES The art charity that supports disadvantaged and marginalised elderly people, and adults with disabilities, through the medium of art projects.

These secondary beneficiaries; who are equally as important as the primary beneficiaries, will have had a career in art, have a strong inclination for art or be studying art. Their primary participation will be assisting and supporting the art gallery with its various projects and programmes through development of their skill sets at Acorn Art Galleries.

The charity understands that some of these beneficiaries are vulnerable and due care will be taken to ensure that they receive quality attention through guidance and participation with their therapist and/or physician, and other registered therapeutic professionals and organisations, to ensure well being of the beneficiaries during their collaboration with Acorn Art Galleries Ltd.

Acorn Art Galleries Ltd strives to maintain quality activities for its secondary beneficiaries who have a strong interest in art and are:

  1. Marginalised elderly adults who live alone, are neglected by family or live in homes,

  2. Adults who are disabled (sight, hearing and physically impaired),

  3. Adults that have minor psychological symptoms, and,

  4. Adults that are unemployed.

Elderly People

Acorn Art Galleries Ltd recognises that elderly people can play an invaluable role in providing voluntary assistance to the furtherance of the charity. Elderly people have the ability to offer a good work ethic and standard of service that younger adults can learn from. Therefore, Acorn Art Galleries Ltd is keen to strengthen and sustain the organisation's objectives with the assistance of the valuable help that the elderly beneficiaries can provide.  Where necessary the charity will provide training for these beneficiaries to ensure a quality of service.  It is hoped that these beneficiaries will be volunteers to the charity.

Disabled Adults

Acorn Art Galleries Ltd recognises that adults who are disabled (sight, hearing and physically impaired) can bring support, knowledge of their disability, and solutions to art projects and programmes when working with disabilities, with ideas on development, representations and innovative methods of working with art, for disabled and able bodied beneficiaries.

These beneficiaries will have the opportunity to use the gallery to exhibit their artwork to potential clients.  They will also have the opportunity to participate in work experience, in order to enter into the work place and mainstream society.  Work and character references can be provided to potential employers.  It is hoped that these beneficiaries will be volunteers to the charity.

Acorn Art Galleries Ltd recognises that adults who have minor psychological symptoms and have previously been employed in an office or art gallery, can bring support to the projects that Acorn Art Galleries provides.  It is our aim to develop their skill set through work experience and training to enhance their levels of self worth, achievements and realisation.

Work Experience for unemployed mature people.  At present, this is envisioned to take the form of an unpaid placement.  Priority will be given to the community and those who have an arts background.  On a basic level, the placement will develop written, oral and life skills, to enhance the chances of the unemployed to enter into the work market with new and improved skills.  On a higher level, the placements will develop managerial and entrepreneurial skills.  Participants will receive a certificate of achievement and  a job reference.  As the work experience will be unpaid, the candidates will need to acquire financial assistance and benefits from the State.

Through public and private donations, Acorn Art Galleries Ltd will endeavour to assist with support needs, travel expenses and refreshments throughout the work experience and volunteering period.
